Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, "The Rest of the Story," and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired. With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called "one Nation under God."

The Story of Chanukah
Around the year 167 B.C.E., the Syrian-Greek rulers of Judea tried to force the Jews to assimilate into Hellenic culture. They summoned the Jews to the town squares where they were forced to worship idols or to sacrifice a pig before the idol.
When the Syrian-Greek soldiers demanded that the Jews of Modiin sacrifice a swine to one of their gods, Mattitiyahu, a priest from the Hasmonean family, refused to allow this desecration to take place and slew the Jewish heretic who volunteered. Mattitiyahu, together with his sons, also attacked the Syrian-Greek soldiers. They won that battle, but they were forced to take refuge in the hills. Mattitiyahu's sons became known as the Maccabees.
Under the leadership of Judah the Maccabee, the Jews launched a guerilla war for freedom. In 165 B.C.E., the Maccabees finally succeeded in routing the vastly superior Syrian-Greeks forces and retook the Temple, but by then the Syrian-Greeks had thoroughly desecrated the holy site. The Jews immediately set to work removing the alien idols, rebuilding the altar and performing the many tasks necessary to rededicate the Temple.
Unfortunately, there was no undefiled oil left with which to light the golden menorah. The Jews searched for sealed jars of pure, consecrated oil, and finally found a single flask with its seal intact. They rejoiced and hurried to light the Menorah and rededicate the Temple.
But it was only one flask of oil, good for only one day. It would take at least another week for fresh pure olive oil to be prepared and consecrated. Not wanting to postpone performing the mitzvah, they decided to light the Menorah with what they had--and the miracle of Chanukah occurred. Despite the small quantity of oil, the menorah remained lit for the entire eight days, proclaiming to the world that God's presence had returned to the Temple.

TO THE EDITORS OF THE NY TIMES:
Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our times is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the "Freedom Party" (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine.
The current visit of Menachem Begin, leader of this party, to the United States is obviously calculated to give the impression of American support for his party in the coming Israeli elections, and to cement political ties with conservative Zionist elements in the United States. Several Americans of national repute have lent their names to welcome his visit. It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughoutthe world, if correctly informed as to Mr. Begin's political record and perspectives, could add their names and support to the movement he represents.
Before irreparable damage is done by way of financial contributions, public manifestations in Begin's behalf, and the creation in Palestine of the impression that a large segment of America supports Fascist elements in Israel, the American public must be informed as to the record and objectives of Mr. Begin and his movement. The public avowals of Begin's party are no guide whatever to its actual character. Today they speak of freedom, democracy and anti-imperialism, whereas until recently they openly preached the doctrine of the Fascist state. It is in its actions that the terrorist party betrays its real character; from its past actions we can judge what it may be expected to do in the future.
Attack on Arab Village
A shocking example was their behavior in the Arab village of Deir Yassin. This village, off the main roads and surrounded by Jewish lands, had taken no part in the war, and had even fought off Arab bands who wanted to use the village as their base. On April 9 (THE NEW YORK TIMES), terrorist bands attacked this peaceful village, which was not a military objective in the fighting, killed most of its inhabitants ? 240men, women, and children - and kept a few of them alive to parade as captives through the streets of Jerusalem. Most of the Jewish community was horrified at the deed, and the Jewish Agency sent a telegram of apology to King Abdullah of Trans-Jordan. But the terrorists, far from being ashamed of their act, were proud of this massacre, publicized it widely, and invited all the foreign correspondents present in the country to view the heaped corpses and the general havoc at Deir Yassin. The Deir Yassin incident exemplifies the character and actions of the Freedom Party.
Within the Jewish community they have preached an admixture of ultranationalism, religious mysticism, and racial superiority. Like other Fascist parties they have been used to break strikes, and have themselves pressed for the destruction of free trade unions. In their stead they have proposed corporate unions on the Italian Fascist model. During the last years of sporadic anti-British violence, the IZL and Stern groups inaugurated a reign of terror in the Palestine Jewish community. Teachers were beaten up for speaking against them, adults were shot for not letting their children join them. By gangster methods, beatings, window-smashing, and wide-spread robberies, the terrorists intimidated the population and exacted a heavy tribute.
The people of the Freedom Party have had no part in the constructive achievements in Palestine. They have reclaimed no land, built no settlements, and only detracted from the Jewish defense activity. Their much-publicized immigration endeavors were minute, and devoted mainly to bringing in Fascist compatriots.
Discrepancies Seen
The discrepancies between the bold claims now being made by Begin and his party, and their record of past performance in Palestine bear the imprint of no ordinary political party. This is the unmistakable stamp of a Fascist party for whom terrorism (against Jews, Arabs, and British alike), and misrepresentation are means, and a "Leader State" is the goal.
In the light of the foregoing considerations, it is imperative that the truth about Mr. Begin and his movement be made known in this country. It is all the more tragic that the top leadership of American Zionism has refused to campaign against Begin's efforts, or even to expose to its own constituents the dangers to Israel from support to Begin.
The undersigned therefore take this means of publicly presenting a few salient facts concerning Begin and his party; and of urging all concerned not to support this latest manifestation of fascism.

You know you live in Upside-down Land if:
A Muslim officer crying "Allah Akbar" while shooting up an army base is considered to have committed “Workplace Violence” while an American citizen boasting a Ron Paul bumper sticker is classified as a “Domestic Terrorist”.
Your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend more money.

A seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for calling his teacher “cute” but hosting a ‘sexual exploration class’ on a college campus is perfectly acceptable.
The Supreme Court of the United States can rule that lower courts cannot display the 10 Commandments in their courtroom, while sitting in front of a display of the 10 Commandments.
Children are forcibly removed from parents who appropriately discipline them while children of "underprivileged" drug addicts are left to rot in filth infested cesspools.
Working class Americans pay for their own health care (and the health care of everyone else) while unmarried women are free to have child after child on the gov’ts money while never being held responsible for their own choices.
Hard work and successes are rewarded with higher taxes and government intrusion, while slothful, lazy behavior is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid and subsidized housing.
The government's plan for getting people back to work is to provide 99 weeks of unemployment checks (to not work).
Being self-sufficient is considered a threat to the government.
Politicians think that stripping away the amendments to the constitution is really protecting the rights of the people.
The rights of the State come before the rights of the individual.
Parents believe the State is responsible for providing for their children.
You can write a post like this just by reading the news headlines.
You pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big screen TV while your neighbor defaults on his mortgage (while buying i-phones, TV's and new cars) and the government forgives his debt and reduces his mortgage (with your tax dollars).
Your government can add anything they want to your kid's water (fluoride, chlorine, etc.) but you are not allowed to give them raw milk.
Being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you "safe".
You have to have your parents signature to go on a field trip but not to get an abortion.
You can get arrested for expired tags on your car but not for being in the country illegally.
An 80 year old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a Muslim woman in a burqa is only subject to having her neck and head searched.
Using the "N" word is considered "hate speech" but writing and singing songs about raping women and killing cops is considered "art".
We are in Upside-down Land.

I read the entire text of proposed House Bill 3200: The Affordable Health-Care-Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise: constitutional- law.
I was concerned that parts of the proposed-law being discussed may be unconstitutional.
What I found was far worse than what I heard or expected.
To begin with, much of what's been said about the law & its' implications is true, despite what Democrats & the media say.
The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where srs. & other citizens are involved, free health-care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services & probably medical pros' forced participation in abortions.
The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business & put everyone into a gov't. run, system. All decisions about personal health-care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats, & most won't be health care pros. Hospital admissions, payments to drs.,& allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled by the gov't.
However, as scary as all of that is, it just scratches the surface.
In fact, I've concluded that this legislation has no intent to provide affordable-health-care choices. It's a convenient,cover for the most massive, transfer of power to-the Executive Branch of gov't. that has ever occurred, or even been considered. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution will effectively have been destroyed.
The first thing to go will- be-the masterfully, crafted, balance-of- power between -the Executive, Legislative, & Judicial branches of the U.S. Gov't. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in many-different-areas over the lives of Americans & the businesses they own.
The irony is Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with! There's nothing in the Constitution & find any authority granted to Congress to regulate health care.
This legislation also provides for access, by the appointees of the Obama administration, of all of your personal health care direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution your personal financial info, & that of your employer, dr. & hospital. All of this protects against unreasonable searches & seizures. You can also forget the right to privacy. That'll have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd & 4th Amendments may provide.
If u decide not to have healthcare insurance, or if u have private insurance that is not deemed acceptable to the Health Choices Administrator Oboma appoints by Obama, there'll be a tax imposed on u. It's called a tax v. fine to avoid the intent to avoid application of due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However,that doesn't work as there is nothing in the law that allows u to contest or appeal the tax's imposition, it's definitely depriving someone of property without due process of law.
So, there are three of those pesky, amendments the far-left hate, out the original ten in the Bill of Rights, that are effectively nullified by this law. It doesn't stop there.
The 9th Amendment that provides: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;
The 10th Amendment states: The powers not delegated to the US by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people, or states will have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.
I'd write many, more, pages about this legislation, but u get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power & limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both Houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution." If I were a Congressional member I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it, without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway, I'd hope Americans held me accountable.
For those who might doubt the nature of this threat, I suggest they consult the Constitution & Bill of Rights. There u can see exactly what we are about to have taken from us.

I was concerned that parts of the proposed-law being discussed may be unconstitutional.
What I found was far worse than what I heard or expected.
To begin with, much of what's been said about the law & its' implications is true, despite what Democrats & the media say.
The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where srs. & other citizens are involved, free health-care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services & probably medical pros' forced participation in abortions.
The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business & put everyone into a gov't. run, system. All decisions about personal health-care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats, & most won't be health care pros. Hospital admissions, payments to drs.,& allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled by the gov't.
However, as scary as all of that is, it just scratches the surface.
In fact, I've concluded that this legislation has no intent to provide affordable-health-care choices. It's a convenient,cover for the most massive, transfer of power to-the Executive Branch of gov't. that has ever occurred, or even been considered. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution will effectively have been destroyed.
The first thing to go will- be-the masterfully, crafted, balance-of- power between -the Executive, Legislative, & Judicial branches of the U.S. Gov't. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in many-different-areas over the lives of Americans & the businesses they own.
The irony is Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with! There's nothing in the Constitution & find any authority granted to Congress to regulate health care.
This legislation also provides for access, by the appointees of the Obama administration, of all of your personal health care direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution your personal financial info, & that of your employer, dr. & hospital. All of this protects against unreasonable searches & seizures. You can also forget the right to privacy. That'll have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd & 4th Amendments may provide.
If u decide not to have healthcare insurance, or if u have private insurance that is not deemed acceptable to the Health Choices Administrator Oboma appoints by Obama, there'll be a tax imposed on u. It's called a tax v. fine to avoid the intent to avoid application of due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However,that doesn't work as there is nothing in the law that allows u to contest or appeal the tax's imposition, it's definitely depriving someone of property without due process of law.
So, there are three of those pesky, amendments the far-left hate, out the original ten in the Bill of Rights, that are effectively nullified by this law. It doesn't stop there.
The 9th Amendment that provides: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;
The 10th Amendment states: The powers not delegated to the US by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people, or states will have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.
I'd write many, more, pages about this legislation, but u get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power & limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both Houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution." If I were a Congressional member I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it, without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway, I'd hope Americans held me accountable.
For those who might doubt the nature of this threat, I suggest they consult the Constitution & Bill of Rights. There u can see exactly what we are about to have taken from us.
